Residents unable to pay their full rent because of the COVID-19 pandemic cannot be evicted for that reason.

The State of California (State) has adopted a statewide temporary ban on evictions through June 30, 2021, which includes the City of San Diego.

A City of San Diego (City) temporary ban on evictions for unpaid rent will take effect on July 1, 2021, after the State eviction ban expires.

The City’s eviction ban will remain in effect until 60 days after the end of the City’s State of Emergency related to COVID-19.

Evictions are allowed if a tenant poses a threat to health and safety.

More details about the State’s temporary eviction ban are available online at https://housingiskey.com/

Details about the City’s temporary eviction ban will be available online at www.sdhc.org/evictionban when the City ban takes effect.
